Wisdom is a person

Once again, this audio has two parts. The second part is directed specifically to parents, looking at what we should do when we don’t know what to do. Many times as parents we come to the end of ourselves and realize we need help to parent better. Where should we turn in those moments?

Wisdom is a Person. Truth is a Person.

People spend a lot of time, energy and money trying to get knowledge and wisdom to solve their problems and achieve their goals. But what does the Bible say about wisdom?

Wisdom starts with fearing the Lord.

Proverbs 1:7  Knowledge begins with fear and respect for the Lord, but stubborn fools hate wisdom and refuse to learn.

Proverbs 1:28-30  “Fools will call for me, but I (Wisdom) will not answer. They will look for me, but they will not find me. That is because they hated knowledge. They refused to fear and respect the Lord. They ignored my advice and refused to be corrected.”

Wisdom is choosing God’s way rather than temporary happiness

Proverbs 8:10-11  Choose discipline over silver and knowledge over the finest gold. Wisdom is better than pearls, and nothing you desire compares with her.

Wisdom is available

Proverbs 8:17  I (Wisdom) love those who love me, and those who look for me will find me.

Truth is a person.

John 14:3-6  Jesus said… “After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with me, so that you can be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.”

Jeremiah 29:13  You will search for me, and when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me.

Parents, don’t make excuses–ask for wisdom.

James 1:5-8  Do any of you need wisdom? Ask God for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to everyone. So he will give you wisdom. But when you ask God, you must believe. Don’t doubt him. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is blown up and down by the wind. People like that are thinking two different things at the same time. They can never decide what to do. So they should not think they will receive anything from the Lord.
